Appearance

General Description:
Leni is of normal stature, very average indeed. She stands at 5’6” and weighs about 120 lbs. She gets most of her looks from her mother’s family, though she shares her broad features with her Aunt and her father. She has large, dark eyes that tend to give her a ‘deer in headlights’ sort of look when she’s deep in thought, but she is almost never that deer, unless you count the few times she was in shock her freshman year. Her eyes are outlined by dark lashes and heavy lids, topped with dark eyebrows. Her nose is a bit stubby, or so she says and can be described as short and round. She has a very steep jawline that forms a somewhat triangular chin. Her lips are almost always pinker than other peoples just because of her fair skin and because of her habit of biting them when nervous or in thought. Leni's mouth is rather small, her teeth basically straight, besides a hardly noticeable gap between her bottom teeth. She is utterly pallid, but has no freckles whatsoever, which surprised her extremely freckle-covered mother.

Leni's posture is normal, with a slight curve to her back and even steps when walking. She has a rather skinny neck, along with a small shoulder span. She is hardly curvaceous and lacks a womanly figure, though she can often sway her hips when walking, subconsciously of course. Along with her somewhat long, round fingers, she doesn’t have tiny feet, but is glad to say she has an average shoe size of 7. She doesn’t at all mind her average look and in fact cares very little about her appearance.

She doesn’t smile an insane amount, but is always happy to be around those more cheerful and glad she can go to them to have a good laugh, though she can sometimes regret being so subdued around them, as if taking their jokes and good humor, but not returning it. But Leni is, of course, there for them when needed. A few of her friends may describe her as ‘cute’ though she tries not to be so. She doesn’t think adjectives describing someone should have to do with their appearance, though she can tend to blush when told this, then again, she is far too proud to let people know.

Leni's thick, dark hair was tamed in her earlier years by being put back in a braid, but when she got to high school, she decided to care even less about her looks and simply leaves it down for the most part, though still puts it back in a braid. She is lucky enough to have nice enough hair to leave it down for the majority of the day, though she would hardly care anyway. Leni has small, round ears that she has never and probably won’t ever get pierced. She finds no fun in punching holes in her body and filling them with metal, though she often finds herself in love with a pair of nice earrings, only to remind herself she doesn’t need them. Along with being a bit apathetic about her looks, the only thing she is sure to wear cosmetic wise, is perfume, though very little and she is often told she smells a bit like musk, though she is almost certain that can be taken the wrong way.

Personality

General:
Even though she isn't overly concerned about how she appears to the world physically, she worries about how people perceive her intellect. Her vanity lies in her knowledge and she will at times step on other people’s feelings to prove her 'intelligence'. Leni can be condescending in a lot of situations, but she manages to keep her snappish remarks to herself when it is needed. Her temper has, however, gotten a better as she matured into her late teens and got more comfortable with her environment.

Leni is ferociously proud and likes to be impressive and to be seen as somebody special. For this, others may see her as a witch who is rarely content in being in the background or in the subordinate position, some coming to the point of calling her a sensationalist or attention seeker. Such accusations do hold truth to them, but it all goes unnoticed by Leni, who tends to believe she is always right and therefore, people should listen to what she has to say. However, time has come and brought some maturity with it, which has made the witch realize sometimes that she isn't always right and that people will not listen to everything she has to say.

Leni prefers to work alone, as she must have her projects according to her own will and vision. Whatever she does, she does it in a unique, dramatic, individual way. She likes to put her own personal stamp on whatever carries her name. Due to her intellectual vanity, she is a perfectionist and tends to get quite bossy when working in a group assignment. She is an over-achiever and will drive her colleagues into madness until she gets her way.

She is a complex female, however and will surprise those who think of her as a snob. It is true that very few know the real Leni Willis and she considers even less to be her friends; however, those who are, can attest to her being a loyal and reliable mate. She’s not a trusting person and usually only talks to someone after she’s met them a few times. Despite that, she will help anyone who asks for aid, for she feels it’s her duty to share the knowledge she retrieves.

Even though Leni is ambitious, she leads her life based on a strict moral code and will sacrifice her own happiness and pleasure to follow it. For this reason, she can be intransigent and unreasonable at times. At heart, she is very gentle, impressionable, and receptive. The world of her imagination, feelings, and intuition is as real to her as anything in the outer world, though she may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting her inner experiences in a way others can understand.

This does not apply, however, in situations where she has to take the lead - or rather, feels like it -, in which she can be highly sarcastic and cynical, having little beliefs in life. It is in situations like this, when she feels confident, that she acts out on one of her defining characteristics; Leni is a flirt, it is in her nature to test how far she can go with it, without actually meaning anything. She considers seducing people a way to achieve power and is often inebriated by it.

This is actually one Leni’s biggest flaws. While she is a dreamer and idealizes her world, she doesn’t often see people as human beings, but rather as players in a game she exceeds - or is working to. She is keen of manipulation and will use her intellect to its full extent to prove her power, even though that has been changing as of lately. When in a romantic relationship Leni is extremely faithful and of very jealous nature. She is overprotective and possessive and her jealousy makes her unreasonable more often than not.

She is an opinionated: she's not afraid of saying what she thinks, when she thinks it and can come off as blunt and even hurtful at times. With her friends, she's playful and lenient, though it's not uncommon for her to upset other people, because of her prodding and stubbornness. Leni isn't afraid of being a hypocrite and will directly contradict herself when it suits her. She's noticed over time that this annoys a lot of people, but can't see it as much of a problem, as she believes that change and contradiction are facts of life (well, that and she really does enjoy irritating some people. Call it petty, she doesn't care.)

Leni has a serious issue when it comes to commitment. She doesn't date a lot, if any, really. Sometimes it happens that she'll find someone to spark her interest, but she'll always be somewhat hesitant to take action on her feelings. She is idealistic about her relationships. She’s a loyal and caring friend as long as you don’t cross her. Romantically, she hasn't found anyone to suit her yet, but is fiercely protective and very jealous of her lovers.

History

Leni's birth was a surprise to the Willis'. They had not been trying for another child as finances were tight. However, both parents were pleased when the final children turned out to be a girl. For her mother, Leni was finally someone she could buy dolls for and dress in pretty dresses. For her father, she was someone he could cuddle and treat as a princess. Consequently, Leni was definitely the least disciplined of the Willis children, but not so much that she was a brat. After all, the family was on the poorer side and she knew what it was like to do without the best clothes and toys.

Even as a young child, Leni always felt like she didn’t quite belong. She was a dreamer while her family was practical. Her parents worked hard to put food on the table and valued practicality above all else. Moreover, her siblings had learned this work ethic and also preached it to their sister. Leni, however, was constantly given to flights of fancy. She adored television and dreamt often of becoming an actress or singer. She craved the attention and adoration that she lacked in the ‘real world.’ Sure, she got plenty at home, but school and play groups were another story. She was always the quirky one, the one not good at sports, the one picked last. Thus, she retreated into television series as if they were old friends. Her parents despised how much time she spent in front of the set and often mandated that she go outside and find something more productive to do. When Leni resisted, she was given extra chores as an outlet.

On her thirteenth birthday, Leni's parents sat down with her and her siblings and explained that some changes where going to be happening. They where leaving Ireland and moving. Well so they made it out to seem. Actually, Leni's father was the one moving. Her parents where divorcing, it wasn't the best birthday present. But she was told she could pick whatever parent she wanted to live with. She didn't want to leave either parent or her siblings, but the decision had to be made. Leni and her sister, Greenlee, moved Santa Monica with their father and her brothers, Jaxson and Kristian stayed in Dublin with their mother.

It torn Leni apart, but she realized maybe it was for the best. Maybe this place could offer her something that Ireland could not. Though their first year over their would come and go fast, as Leni's father meant a woman and decided to marry. Leni didn't like her at first, because she was so young, but the girl learn to grow attached. Now, as a senior in high school, Leni's step mother is like her best friend. Shopping together, which was something she was actually able to do with having a rich step mother.

Her hazel eyes scanned Harry's green ones for a moment. All the confusion and nervousness was building up inside of her, which wasn't good. Looking at the waitress she smiled, "That'll be it." Rafferty grinned at the waitress turned and left the table. Her eyes looked back at Harry. She could tell something was bother him, she didn't know what, but she assumed it was Ginny. It seemed that everytime the two of them were together, Ginny had always become topic of conversation. Even though Harry would never use her name or anything, Rafferty wasn't at all stupid she knew who he was talking about.

Smiling, Rafferty licked her lips to clear them of dryness. Taking a deep breath, she stood from the booth as if she was going to leave. Looking down at Harry, she smiled. "Excuse me." She pushed her chair in. "Ladies room." She smiled, assuring Harry that she wasn't ditching out on the date she just had to go to the little girls room. Though she didn't have to use the bathroom, she just needed to calm herself down and some nice cold water would help that situation. Winking at Harry lightly, she turned and walked away towards the bathroom. The only thing that sucked was that she had to walk past Theodore to get to it. She took a deep breath and contunied to walk towards it.

Rafferty tried to stay focused. She didn't want to look at Theodore like an idiot, nor did she want to stop and ask what the hell he was doing her. 'Rafi, it is a free country and their isn't no sign that says Theodore Nott isn't aloud in her.' Those were just some of the thoughts that seemed to be building up in her head. Taking another breath, she neared Theodore, keeping her eyes directly infront of her, for fear that if she would look at him, she would lose it. As she finally reached him, she took another deep breath, she couldn't help herself, she had to look at him.

Turning her head a bit, she caught sight of his eyes. Oh how Rafferty longed to look into those eyes again. She scanned him for a moment as she kept walking, then quicking turned away. 'Rafferty Rydell. You need to stop it not. Don't let it get to far ahead of you. He turned you down. He shattered your dreams, your heart, your life. He deserves no one, not even you.' Thoughts swirled around in her head fastily. Sighing once more, she picked her pace up a little bit before hse flung her hands into the door and emerged into the bathroom.

Walking over to the sink, she placed her hands on each side of it. She looked up into the mirror soon enough to see the tears start to fall from her eyes. Great, not she was making a completely idiot of herself. How was it that one guy, just one single guy could make her just fall about in a matter of second. There was no denying it. Why didn't she just tell Harry the truth? Why didn't she let him know her problems? Considering that Harry and Rafferty's problems were similar, she was sure he would understand. It was clear that the two of them were on this date to help get over the past. Over past lovers, if thats what you wanted to call it.

Turning the cold water on, Rafferty let it drain into her cupped hands, then splashed it on her face. "Pull yourself together girl." She spoke outloud, but softly to herself. Splashing some more water on her face, she grabbed a paper towel and gently dabbed off the water. Looking into the mirror once more, she had to make sure it didn't look like she was crying. Then again, she was kind of froozen in her spot. There was no way she was going to be able to go back out right now, it would be impossible. She just need to relax for a moment, to get the thought of having to walk past Theodore again out of her mind. Maybe if she took off in a bit of a ran, she wouldn't have to notice him. Yeah right, she would notice him anyways.

Sighing, she took a deep breath. Maybe Rafferty should just call it off now. Maybe it would be best. It didn't really matter, no matter what someone was going to get hurt in the end. If she ended it now and explain everything to Harry, maybe he would understand and not hate her. The could do it again another time, when he head was on straight or whenever they knew that neither Theodore nor Ginny woudl show up to spoil the moment. Looking at herself in the mirror once again, she cotunied to think. Rafi just didn't know what to do anyone. Her heart was confusing the hell out of her. Most of the time she would listen to her heart. Other times she would just to whatever was in her head.

At this point in time, her heart was telling her that she needed to tell Harry everything. That she needed to let him now how she felt about Theodore and that it would be best if they just remained good friends for now. It would be best if they could set up this date another time. Or change it and just meet at the lake that evening. Rafferty sighed, contuning to look at herself in the mirror, but her mind was telling her differently. It was telling her to just go back out and let it blow over. Forget about Theodore, he don't care, Harry does.

"OH STOP IT!" Rafferty shouted a bit as the voices in her head contunied to agrue. Turning the water back on, she splashed her face a bit more. Taking another deep breath, she turned it off and dried her face once more. It was a moment of truth. Listen to her heart, like she had done many times before and it always ended badly. Or listen to her mind. What was the worst that could happen. Either way she was either going to lose a friend, a lover, or her mind. Biting her bottom lip, Rafferty didn't leave the bathroom, she hadn't been in her long had she? Sighing she sat down on the bench that leaned up against the wall. She just wanted to relax, more like she needed to relax before she went back to the table and Harry.

Right now, Rafferty found it better that she spend a couple of minutes away from Harry. Or better yet out of the view of Theodore. It was all confusion in her head. Half of is said try Theodore again and the other half was telling her to give up on him and let Harry have ago. 'Don't cry, Don't cry.' she thought to herself once more. Whatever she did, she knew it would be the right decision. She knew it would be impossible to mess this up badly right? The last thing she wanted to do was lose the friendship of him. Harry was the one guy she could just go to and talk the night away with.
